When was Gurochan founded?

Miscellaneous

What is an image board?
An image board is an image based forum centered on sharing and discussing images.

Where do I make an account?
Most image boards do not have an account system for normal users, so you are allowed and encouraged to post anonymously. If you want to tie a nickname to your posts, you may fill the Name field and attach a tripcode.

What is a tripcode?
A tripcode is a password that comes after your nickname. When using that specific password, your nickname will have a random string of characters unique to that password.
You use a tripcode by adding a pound sign (#) to your nickname and then a password.
Example:
Result: This will be shown as name ◆ ozOtJW9BFA
NOTE: This tripcode will be the same in every other image board you visit.
To make your tripcode exclusive to this site, you must add a second pound sign (#). This is called a secure tripcode.

What is an OP?
OP often refers to the Opening Post, Original Poster or Original Post. The OP sets the topic of the thread.
Not to be confused with the IRC use of “Op” being short for “Operator”.

What is a bump?
When a thread is replied to, it is “bumped”. Newest bumped threads are sent to the top of the board.
SIDE NOTE: Ageru (上げる) means “to raise”, the opposite of “to lower”. Age can also be used in place of “bump” if you want to sound like a true nihonjin.

What is a sage?
“Sage” comes from the Japanese verb sageru (下げる) which means “to lower”. Typing sage into the email field prevents the thread from being bumped. This is used when you are not posting something that portrays to the topic of the thread. Example:

What is noko and noko2?
Writing “noko” into the email field will send you to your post after posting.
Example:
If you write “noko2”, you will be sent to the thread you posted in, but it will not link to your post.

Post Tags

How should I tag my posts?
Under the File field you can find the Category field, you may write into it the categories you think your image belongs to. You can also tag series, characters, or artists.

What if there is more than one name for the tag I want to use?
There are some guro categories that have multiple names. To prevent confusion of what tag to use, here is a canonical list of some tags:

In all boards, you can use these tags:
  • decapitation
  • skull fuck
  • hanging
  • amputation
  • impalement
  • necrophilia
  • futanari
  • male focused
  • execution
  • intestines
  • belly penetration
  • scat
  • lolicon
  • suicide
  • castration
  • cannibalism
  • torture
  • ryona
  • hard vore
  • feral
You can use these tags in their respective boards;
/s/
  • guro
  • urination
/lit/ and /rp/
  • con
  • non-con
/fur/
  • horse
  • mlp
  • sonic
  • pokemon
  • bird
  • dragon
/dis/
  • meta
/req/
  • source request
  • translation request
Also, as a common rule, we suggest avoiding plurals.

Do I really have to do this?
No. There is no actual rule regarding tagging, we merely encourage their use.

Other

What is GuroWiki?
GuroWiki is a wiki for anything about guro. Some examples are guro categories, gurochan's history, or special characters such as Bikko or Jissouseki.

Why are there some missing images on some threads?
During the posting software overhaul, a failure with the image conversion occurred, and now some images do not load properly in some posts made before the change. The moderation team is working on manually reposting the missing images, as well as deleting corrupted posts after that.

Can I join the Gurochan team?
We are looking for developers, moderators, janitors, etc. You can enlist here.
